Beyond the Equator was mentioned in the 2018 New Orleans Eat Local Challenge that starts June 1! The goal: For the 30 days of June, eat only foods that were grown, caught or raised within a 200-mile radius of New Orleans. The aim is to raise awareness of the nutritional, economic, environmental and cultural benefits of eating locally sourced foods.
A low-sugar, allergen-friendly peanut butter developed in New Orleans has earned national recognition. Beyond the Equator, a retail food brand launched locally last year, won a Best New Product sofi Award from the Specialty Food Association for its product, 5 Seed Butter. A panel of national specialty food experts selected the peanut butter alternative from more than 3,000 entries across 39 categories.
We are excited to announce our 5 Seed Butter has won a 2018 Sofi Award for Best New Product in the Nut Butter and Seed Butter category. The fifth annual Silicon Bayou Startup Showcase is happening tonight at New Orleans newest co-working space, The Shop at the CAC. The science fair-style event is designed to highlight startups in New Orleans with innovative products and projects.
Seven startups have been selected to participate this year, including Beyond the Equator, Cleargistix, Digital Tip Jar, Free Your Tea, TrayAway, Ready Responders, and Recline. The startups will be demoing products and giving away free swag and samples.
